RT reported that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was criticized by Mr. Roger Stone - Mr. Trump's advisor - for his inappropriate outfit during a three-way meeting with US President-elect Donald Trump and French President Emmanuel Macron.
The 45-minute meeting took place on December 7 at the Elysee Palace in Paris (France), on the occasion of the reopening of Notre Dame Cathedral. According to many news agencies, Mr. Macron had to persuade Mr. Trump for many days to let the US President-elect attend this meeting.
“He (Zelensky) doesn’t own a suit? He wore a suit and tie at the World Economic Forum, but he doesn’t wear one when he addresses Congress or meets the president-elect of the United States? That’s disrespectful to the American people,” Stone told the New York Post.
On social network X, many users also expressed that they felt that Mr. Zelensky's outfit during the meeting with the US and French leaders was not suitable for the formal nature of the event.
Some have suggested that Mr. Zelensky should wear a suit to show respect when attending important diplomatic meetings, especially since he has worn it in the past. Some have even offered to sponsor Mr. Zelensky a suit, while others have argued that this should not happen when Ukraine has received a large amount of aid from the United States.
No details about the content of the tripartite meeting have been released yet.
After the meeting, Mr Macron wrote on social network X that the discussion focused on the conflict in Ukraine and steps to resolve it. Mr Zelensky described the meeting as “productive and positive”. Meanwhile, Mr Trump called for an “immediate ceasefire and negotiations” between Russia and Ukraine but did not provide further details.
