Images posted by North Korea's central news agency KCNA on January 1 show Kim Ju-ae, Kim Jong-un's daughter, publicly visiting the Kumsusan Palace for the first time.
During the visit, Kim Ju-ae appeared next to her parents and senior North Korean officials in the main hall of this sacred project.
KCNA said the visit took place on January 1. According to state media descriptions, the participants reaffirmed their determination to fulfill their responsibilities and obligations at the front line to realize the cause for the long-term prosperity and development of North Korea, and at the same time united to support Kim Jong-un's ideology and leadership.
Kumsusan Sun Palace is the resting place of 2 late leaders: Kim Jong-il, Kim Jong-un's biological father, and North Korean founder Kim Il-sung, Kim Jong-un's grandfather. Kim Jong-il was born in 1942 and died in 2011, leading North Korea for 17 years after the late leader Kim Il-sung passed away in 1994.
This is the first time Kim Ju-ae has publicly visited the Kumsusan Sun Palace. Previously, she appeared at a New Year's event. Kim Ju-ae's presence at this highly symbolic location attracted public attention, in the context that she is increasingly appearing more and more at important events.
Kim Ju-ae is believed to be born in 2012, one of the three children of Mr. Kim Jong-un and Ms. Ri Sol-ju. She was first publicly photographed by North Korean media in November 2022, when accompanying her father to an operation related to intercontinental ballistic missiles.
Since then, Kim Ju-ae has frequently appeared with Mr. Kim Jong-un at important events, making many people consider her a top candidate for the role of successor in the future.
