Several people died and many others were injured after a fire at a New Year's party in the ski resort area of the Southern Swiss Alps.
This morning (January 1, 2026), a fire broke out at about 1:30 am, at the Le Constellation bar in Crans-Montana, Valais state. Many people were injured and many died," said Gaetan Lathion, a Valais police spokesman.
Police did not give the exact number of deaths and injuries, as well as details of the cause of the fire in the area famous for its high-class resorts.
The state's police and prosecutors will hold a press conference to inform about the incident on January 1.
