On September 22, according to TASS news agency quoting North Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), the North Korean Missile Administration successfully tested a new weapon.
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un directly supervised the test taking place on September 20 (local time).
According to KCNA, Kim Jong Un assessed the test as "prominent evidence of advanced defense technology and clear progress" in the modernization of North Korean armed forces.
KCNA said the test did not adversely affect the security of neighboring countries. However, the report did not provide information about the weapon being tested or the characteristics of the new system.
Mr. Kim Jong Un said that owning this technology is important for North Korea's combat readiness and the process of developing armed forces in the future.
Mr. Kim Jong Un believes that a country hostile to North Korea will understand the significance of the new military technology advance that Pyongyang has achieved.
The new test was announced in the context of North Korea continuing to emphasize the modernization of its armed forces and the development of new defense technologies.
