AFP quoted information from China Central Television (CCTV) as saying that nearly 1,400 flights to and from 2 main airports of Shanghai were canceled on August 9 (local time).
At Hangzhou Airport, Zhejiang province, 270 inbound and outbound flights were also recorded to be canceled.
Typhoon Dolphin caused heavy rain and strong winds in Okinawa (Japan) in recent days, expected to make landfall in Zhejiang or Fujian provinces (China) at the end of August 9 or early August 10. Okinawa authorities said that 7 people were slightly injured due to the typhoon's impact.

After making landfall, Typhoon Dolphin is forecast to weaken and move northwest through eastern China.
According to Xinhua News Agency, in Fujian, nearly 99,000 people were evacuated from dangerous areas on the evening of August 8 before the storm made landfall. More than 200 ferry routes in Zhejiang and Fujian also had to temporarily suspend operations. Offshore projects were suspended, and 474 construction ships were required to move to ports.
Some railway lines in affected areas are temporarily suspended from operation on August 9 to ensure passenger safety.
