Xinhua News Agency on July 8 reported that Chinese Ministry of National Defense spokesman Chen Xi had just commented on China's missile test. He affirmed that China had notified relevant countries about the strategic missile launch from a nuclear submarine. This move demonstrates the openness and transparency of the Chinese military.
Mr. Chen Xi said that the missile test launch achieved the expected results, and emphasized that this is an operation arranged according to the annual military training plan, in accordance with international law and international practice.
According to the Spokesperson of the Chinese Ministry of National Defense, China is determined to pursue the path of peaceful development and implement defense-oriented national defense policies.
He emphasized that China pursues a nuclear self-defense strategy, maintaining nuclear capabilities at the minimum necessary level to ensure national security and not participating in any nuclear arms race with other countries.
A spokesman for the Chinese Ministry of National Defense also said that China's efforts to modernize its nuclear forces are aimed at protecting national strategic security and maintaining strategic stability globally.
Previously, on July 6, the People's Liberation Army Navy of China (PLA) announced that a strategic nuclear submarine of this force successfully launched a strategic missile with a fake warhead at 12:01 towards the relevant international sea area in the Pacific Ocean.
