Three astronauts of the manned spacecraft mission Shenzhou 23, including Zhu Yangzhu, Zhang Zhiyuan and Li Jiaying, have completed their first month of work on the Tiangong Space Station, according to a video released by the China Space Service (CMSA).
One of the highlights of the 1-month "space mission" was that the crew had a new culinary experience on orbit: Grilled pumpkin.
According to Xinhua News Agency, a video released by CMSA on June 28 showed astronauts placing sweet pumpkin pieces in a specialized oven on the station, bringing a warm feeling like a family meal in the space environment.
In the past week, Chinese crew members have deployed many scientific experiments.
In space medicine, astronauts use diagnostic ultrasound devices to scan the neck, wrists and abdomen of each other. The collected data will support research on the overall blood flow spectrum of the vascular system, map blood flow in space-time, and restructure groups of muscles sensitive to the microgravity environment.
On the Tiangong Space Station, the crew also interacts with space robots, conducting touch-sensitive tests to collect data to optimize movement planning for robots operating in orbit.
According to CMSA, research on electroencephalography (EEG) in space is also progressing smoothly. Astronauts have used EEG devices to conduct experiments related to processing vision-motor coordination and behavioral response in various lighting conditions.
Within the framework of the health management program, astronauts also use traditional Chinese medical diagnostic equipment to collect data. These data will provide more information for researchers in monitoring the health of astronauts in long-term space missions.
China launches manned spacecraft Shenzhou 23 on May 24. The mission includes a 1-year-long orbital stay experiment, expected to provide important data for long-term space exploration activities in the future.
