Ukraine receives Russian gas from foreign companies, transported via Slovakia, according to the Slovak Foreign Minister.

Ukraine receives Russian gas purchased from foreign companies via Slovakia, Slovakia's Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Affairs Juraj Blanar shared on Facebook.

"Russian gas purchased from abroad will flow through Slovakian territory to Ukraine," TASS quoted Minister Juraj Blanar.

Earlier, Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico said that foreign companies supply gas to Ukraine via pipelines passing through Slovakia.

"Gas is flowing into Ukraine through the backup pipeline. Ukraine would freeze without it, but Slovakia has nothing to do with this. Foreign companies are suppliers," Prime Minister Robert Fico said.

The Slovakian leader revealed that the volume of gas that foreign companies supply to Ukraine is about 7.5 million m3/day.

"Foreign supplies from Europe to Ukraine add pressure on gas prices," said Mr. Fico.

Slovakian Economy Minister Denis Sakov said that foreign companies supplying gas to Ukraine come from the Czech Republic and Germany.

The trade information agency SITA clarified that gas supplies to Ukraine have been carried out since February 6 via the Vojany-Uzhgorod gas pipeline.
