On the afternoon of June 27, after finishing the final exam subject of the 2025 high school graduation exam, the Ministry of Education and Training held a press conference to inform about the exam.
At the press conference, sharing about the process of building exam questions, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Ha - Deputy Director of the Department of Quality Management, Ministry of Education and Training said that this year's exam has a completely different structure and format compared to last year, especially for subjects other than foreign languages.
Informing about the issue related to difficulties, Mr. Ha informed that there are 2 points to note. First, some new properties will surprise candidates.
Second, regarding the content and difficulty of the exam, this is a point that the Steering Committee discusses and thoroughly grasps before the exam preparation work takes place.
"The guiding point of this year's exam is not to change the state suddenly, including the difficulty of the exam" - Professor Ha affirmed.
To do this, in 2024, the Ministry of Education and Training issued a test format structure. Also in 2024, the reference questions will be announced in February with the purpose of making students familiar with the format structure. Teachers have an orientation, consider the ability assessment test, and how to perform.
Before the exam council conducted the work, the Ministry of Education and Training conducted a large-scale testing of the exam in all 3 regions. The purpose of the test is to assess the students' ability to meet the requirements and adjust the difficulty in the test accordingly.
"In short, there are 2 points to note when making the exam questions: you must closely follow the published reference questions and the difficulty must be based on the experimental results in all 3 regions of the country" - Professor Ha said.
This person also said that the Ministry of Education and Training acknowledged the reflection on the difficulty of the Math and English exam. After that, there will be a specific review when the marking work is completed.
Providing more information about the exam preparation process, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Ha said that this year's exam is very different from previous years' exam.
The matrix of the exam is randomly built right during the exam preparation process. Thus, no one knows in advance the matrix. This can be seen, in the immediate future, ensuring objectivity in the process of building the exam.
