Ukraine's commitment not to attack TurkStream is part of the guarantees the European Commission gave to Hungary, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto told RIA Novosti earlier this week.
"We were given a list of guarantees for three issues. First, Ukraine will not cut off the flow of oil through its territory. Second, Ukraine will not attack TurkStream infrastructure. And third, negotiations on reopening the gas transit route through Ukraine will begin very quickly," Mr. Szijjarto shared.
On January 27, Foreign Minister Szijjarto informed that Hungary had received necessary guarantees on energy security from the European Commission, which is a condition for the country to consider extending sanctions against Russia.

On January 11, Ukraine attacked the TurkStream gas compressor station near Anapa, Russia's Krasnodar region, with nine drones. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the attack on TurkStream was aimed at blocking Russian gas supplies to European countries.
TurkStream is the final gas pipeline to bring Russian gas to Europe. The TurkStream pipeline runs from Russia to Türkiye across the Black Sea.
One branch of this pipeline serves Turkish consumers. The second branch of this pipeline carries Russian gas to consumers in southern and southeastern Europe.
The TurkStream pipeline has a total capacity of 31.5 billion m3 (15.75 billion m3 per branch). Russian gas has been transported via the TurkStream pipeline since January 2020.
