On August 22, commander of the Ukrainian unmanned system, Mr. Robert Brovdi, said that the Ukrainian army had attacked the Unecha oil pumping station in Russia's Bryansk region.
A video posted by him on Telegram shows a large fire breaking out at the facility with many fuel tanks, but the exact location in the video cannot be verified independently.
Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said on Facebook that crude oil supplies from Russia to Hungary via the Druzhba pipeline were stopped after the attack near the Russia-Belarus border area. He called it another attack on our energy security.
Unlike most European Union countries, Slovakia and Hungary still rely heavily on Russian oil, mainly via the Druzhba pipeline running through Belarus and Ukraine.
In recent times, Ukraine has continuously increased attacks on Russia's energy infrastructure, considering this a way to weaken the country's important financial source. According to estimates, oil and gas revenue accounts for about 1/4 of the total Russian budget.
UAV attacks on oil refineries and pipelines have occurred almost daily, leading to fuel shortages in many areas of Russia.
On the Russian side, the country has also stepped up attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure, despite US President Donald Trump's efforts to find a way to end the conflict.
