Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Quang Ngoc becomes Deputy Minister of National Defense

Senior General Nguyen Quang Ngoc was appointed by the Prime Minister to hold the position of Deputy Minister of National Defense.

On August 22, 2025, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh signed Decision No. 1798/QD-TTg appointing Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Quang Ngoc - Member of the Party Central Committee, Member of the Central Military Commission, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army to hold the position of Deputy Minister of National Defense.

The decision takes effect from August 22, 2025.

Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Quang Ngoc was born on September 28, 1968; hometown: Nam Dinh (now Ninh Binh province). Qualifications: Senior in political theory; Bachelor of Military major in Staff Command, Military Corps.

With the newly appointed personnel, the Ministry of National Defense currently has 10 Deputy Ministers, including: General Nguyen Tan Cuong - Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army; Senior Lieutenant General Vo Minh Luong; Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien; Senior Lieutenant General Le Huy Vinh; Senior Lieutenant General Vu Hai San; Senior Lieutenant General Pham Hoai Nam; Lieutenant General Nguyen Hong Thai; Lieutenant General Nguyen Truong Thang; Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Hien; Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Quang Ngoc.

The Minister of National Defense is General Phan Van Giang.

Senior General Nguyen Quang Ngoc has worked for many years in Military Region 3 in the following positions: Deputy Commander of the Military Region, Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff of the Military Region, Commander of the Military Region.

In January 2025, he was appointed Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army.

On July 14, at the Presidential Palace, President Luong Cuong - Politburo member, Chairman of the National Defense and Security Council, Commander-in-Chief of the People's Armed Forces chaired a ceremony to announce and hand over the decision to promote the rank of Senior Lieutenant General to Mr. Nguyen Quang Ngoc.
