As of 9:00 a.m. on December 12, the Vietnamese sports delegation continued to maintain stable performance at the 33rd SEA Games. The athletes brought home 14 gold medals, 8 silver medals and 27 bronze medals, thereby temporarily ranking second on the total rankings.
The leading team in the group will still be the Thai sports delegation - host of this year's Games. With home field advantage and an even strength in many sports, Thailand broke through strongly to own 41 gold medals, 24 silver medals and 14 bronze medals, creating a fairly safe distance from the chasing group.
Right behind Vietnam is the Indonesian sports delegation, which has always maintained fierce competition, with 13 gold medals, 20 silver medals and 13 bronze medals.
The next positions on the total rankings belong to Singapore, Philippines, Malaysia, Myanmar, Laos, Brunei and Timor Leste.
The medal race is expected to be more volatile as key events enter the peak period on December 12.
