Currently, the women's volleyball teams have almost completed the procedures for registering the list of players to participate in the second phase of the 2024-2025 National Volleyball Championship, taking place in Lao Cai from November 7 to November 17 in Lao Cai.
In phase 1, Hanoi and Thai Binh were the two teams without foreign players, but in phase 2, Thai Binh managed to add Russian striker Svetlana Sukhoverkhova. Therefore, Hanoi is the only team without foreign players and without adding domestic players.
This is not surprising because the funding issue for the capital team has become an eternal problem. Currently, both the men's and women's teams of Hanoi do not have sponsors and must develop their own resources. This is a difficult situation for coach Nguyen Huu Binh and his team.
In this context, coach Nguyen Huu Binh is forced to rely on the current generation of young players. In recent seasons, Hanoi women's volleyball team has built a young generation, eating and practicing together.
Some prominent faces include Vi Thi Yen Nhi, Le Thuy Linh, Pham Thuy Linh, Bui Thi Anh Thao... These are all players of the Vietnam U20 women's volleyball team, who have shown their professional marks in tournaments during the year.
The most outstanding player in the Hanoi club squad is the main striker Bui Thi Anh Thao. Although only 15 years old, Anh Thao's skill set is highly appreciated. This main striker has the ability to jump lightly but high, serve the ball hard, and make decisive moves. In particular, the factor that often helps Anh Thao score is her clever playing style, knowing how to choose the ball to change the attack, blocking and drawing beautiful lines.
Setter Vi Thi Yen Nhi is also the hope of this team. Standing at 1m78 tall, the player born in 2003 is considered by experts to be one of the most promising young setters of Vietnamese women's volleyball at present. Yen Nhi is the type of player who often jumps and passes, has good observation and handles the ball quickly. This helps her make passes to her teammates.
In addition to the two faces above, middle blocker Le Thuy Linh and main blocker Pham Thuy Linh both showed promise when wearing the U20 Vietnam women's team jersey to compete in the VTV9 - Binh Dien Cup 2024 and the 2024 U20 Asian Championship.
In the first phase, due to the young team, Hanoi lost all 4 matches. Currently, coach Nguyen Huu Binh's team is at the bottom of the rankings.
In phase 2, the capital's representative has 4 more rounds to play against Thanh Hoa, Quang Ninh, Duc Giang Chemicals and VTV Binh Dien Long An. This will be a difficult challenge for Anh Thao and her teammates as all teams have invested heavily in terms of personnel.
Certainly, Hanoi's young players will have to make great efforts and determination to realize the goal of successfully staying in the league this season.
