FIVB announces 32 women's volleyball teams for 2025 World Cup
Recently, the International Volleyball Federation ( FIVB ) officially announced 32 teams qualified to compete in the 2025 World Championship. With a 4th place finish at the 2023 Asian Championship, the Vietnamese women's team will join 31 top teams in this prestigious tournament.
"The women's volleyball teams that have qualified from the continental championships are: Kenya, Egypt and Cameroon (Africa), China, Japan and Vietnam (Asia), Turkey, the Netherlands and Italy (Europe), Dominican Republic, the United States and Canada (NORCECA - North, Central America and the Caribbean) and Brazil, Argentina and Colombia (South America)," the FIVB website wrote.
According to FIVB regulations, host team Thailand and defending champion Serbia are given 2 default spots.
The next 15 places are divided among the top 3 teams in the continental championships, including Poland, Germany, Belgium, Czech Republic, Puerto Rico, Ukraine, France, Bulgaria, Cuba, Sweden, Mexico, Slovenia, Slovakia, Spain and Greece.
VTV Cup 2024 champion is interested
Russian media has posted a video recording a visit and meeting with Korabelka Club - the champion of VTV Cup 2024 by President Putin. The video features familiar faces who have just played in Vietnam such as coach Sfronova, "Best Player" of VTV Cup 2024 Nesterova Elizeveta or "Miss VTV Cup 2024" Palshina Elizaveta.
It is known that Korabelka is a volleyball team that Russian President Vladimir Putin loves and pays much attention to in Russia. Despite being busy with many political tasks, President Putin still comes to watch and cheer on the team during practice.
Kim Hue shares about VTV Cup
On her personal page, former player Pham Thi Kim Hue shared a series of photos capturing the moments when she participated in commentating and watching matches at VTV Cup 2024. She said that the tournament made her feel too many emotions both in the past and present.
Talking to Lao Dong, the former player born in 1982 said: "I was honored to be part of the Vietnamese women's volleyball team participating in the first VTV Cup. Time has passed, and the tournament has now entered its 20th year of being held. My feeling is still the same as the first day when I was still competing."
VTV Cup 2024 ended on August 31 after 8 days of competition. The championship belonged to Korabelka (Russia), the Vietnamese team won the runner-up position and the third place belonged to Hi-pass Expressway Club (Korea).
