The Vietnamese women's volleyball team finished the 2024 VTV Cup as runners-up. Although they were unable to defend their championship title, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and his team performed quite well and maintained stable form.
One of the outstanding players is Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen, who contributed greatly to the home team's play and was also among the top scorers at VTV Cup 2024.
The 2000-born setter scored 130 points after 6 matches, including 6 blocks and 5 aces, ranking 2nd in the tournament's scoring list. Bich Tuyen was only 3 points behind the leader, Elozaveta Nesterova (Korabelka club).
In addition, the hitter from Vinh Long was also in the group of players with the best Attack index, reaching 48.18% (ranked 2nd). At the end of the tournament, Bich Tuyen was honored as the "best opposing setter".
Thanks to that, she was added 15 points on the ranking of Volleybox, currently ranked 57th in the world. In the opposite position alone, Bich Tuyen is ranked 10th.
In addition to Bich Tuyen, Le Thanh Thuy and Vi Thi Nhu Quynh also made it into the top blockers, ranking 5th (11 blocks) and 6th (9 blocks) respectively. The remaining rankings from highest to lowest are Zakharova (Korabelka) - 18, Bae Yoo Na (Expressway) - 16, Kolomoyets (Kuanysh) - 15, Duan Mengke (Henan) - 14, Polina (Kuanysh) - 11, Zhao Boyan (Henan) - 11.
In the top players with the most aces (direct serves), Nguyen Thi Trinh ranked 5th with 6 aces. She is also the best ace scorer of the Vietnamese women's volleyball team at VTV Cup 2024.
At the end of the tournament, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet's students will return to their home clubs to prepare for phase 2 of the 2024 national championship.
The team will gather again next year to prepare for important international missions, including the AVC Challenge Cup, SEA V.League, SEA Games 33 as well as the 2025 World Cup.
