Even so, deep in his professional consciousness, Dinh Van Duy still has things to share. Remember at SEA Games 33 in Thailand in December last year, Dinh Van Duy could not hide his sadness when he and the Vietnamese men's volleyball team missed the opportunity to win medals and rank fourth. At that time, for himself, Dinh Van Duy and his teammates were very confident that a brilliant result would come to the Vietnamese men's volleyball team at SEA Games 33.
We have had opportunities to concretize our achievements right in each point of the match. Unfortunately, the overall result was not as desired. This will be an SEA Games full of memories and I myself will also draw more experience for myself," Dinh Van Duy expressed to the media in Thailand.
In 2023, Dinh Van Duy officially joined the Vietnam Men's Volleyball Team. At that time, this player was awarded a spot by coach Tran Dinh Tien to participate in the 32nd SEA Games held in Cambodia.
However, in the opening matches at SEA Games 32, the coaching staff did not risk putting Dinh Van Duy on the field but focused their trust on the professional ability of veteran setter Giang Van Duc. However, the Vietnamese men's volleyball team still needs a change. Dinh Van Duy has been given the opportunity to play officially in Cambodia. With sharp passes, daring to take risks but achieving high accuracy of this young player, it has brought a new touch for the Vietnamese men's volleyball team to win a bronze medal at SEA Games 32.
From 2023 to now, Dinh Van Duy has always maintained high form and regularly participated with the Vietnamese men's volleyball team in many tournaments. However, looking at his career path, 2024 is not a really smooth time for this player. In July 2024, Dinh Van Duy suffered a ligament injury that required treatment. It seemed that Dinh Van Duy would have to be out for the rest of that season, but with his own determination and effective treatment, this player returned to the field at the end of the year and won the 2024 National Championship Cup with Bien Phong MB team with the highest form.
Professional level of oneself
2025 is a successful year for Dinh Van Duy personally with domestic tournaments. Dinh Van Duy won the Hoa Lu Cup 2025, Hung Vuong Cup 2025 and National Championship 2025 with his managing team Bien Phong MB. Notably, the player was awarded the title "Excellent setter" in the above 3 tournaments. Dinh Van Duy personally really wants to continue this in 2026.
When I started practicing basic volleyball techniques, my teammates and I were fully trained in all positions. However, the coaches will select to see who is suitable for which position to practice deeply that position. I started practicing setter and for me, this position is very suitable for me," Dinh Van Duy shared.
Professional analyses or comments are not as realistic as the player's performance shown through each tournament. Dinh Van Duy maintains his stability. Above all, the player is considered to be a person who knows how to listen and adjust when the coaching staff requires changes in practical situations on the field.
At this time, Dinh Van Duy and Bien Phong MB Men's Volleyball Team entered the Hung Vuong Cup 2026 competition in Phu Tho (taking place from April 23 to April 26). Dinh Van Duy himself or any setter understands very well that his position plays an essential role in the tactical system of teams.
Therefore, the fighting spirit, professional concentration and discipline of himself are what Dinh Van Duy sets out to help him maintain his form. In some exchanges before television, Dinh Van Duy said that the military sports environment is what helps him grow up over the years.
For us, the task of focusing on competing to achieve results is always the highest requirement. Each player maintains awareness in training, striving to do well in tasks is already completing the set goals," Dinh Van Duy added.
In the generation of Vietnamese men's volleyball through many periods, experts have witnessed many high-level setters bringing memorable achievements such as: Nguyen Tuan Kiet, Pham Minh Dung, Le Hong Huy, Luu Dinh Toan, Vu Hong Quan, Giang Van Duc, Nguyen Van Thanh... Dinh Van Duy is currently the best professional setter in the young generation of Vietnamese men's volleyball players. However, this hitter also humbly believes that he has many challenges ahead, so each tournament, each competition is another time to learn to draw valuable lessons for himself.
Waiting for opportunities in the Asian arena
This year, Dinh Van Duy enters the age of 26. This is the age that will bring the maturity of his career. Many comments say that Dinh Van Duy is one of the players playing the setter position with class in Southeast Asia. At this time, volleyball nations such as Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, Cambodia are fiercely competing with Vietnam at the national men's volleyball team level. Each country has setter players who are in high form. Therefore, Dinh Van Duy also has his positions against opponents.
In his mind, Dinh Van Duy has shared many times that he wants to learn more about expertise and above all to access the level in tournaments in Asian arenas. The Vietnamese men's volleyball team has participated in the AVC Challenge Cup (currently the AVC Cup) from 2023 to 2025.
Dinh Van Duy has the opportunity to be a member of the Vietnam Men's Volleyball Team to participate in this playground. Against Asian-level opponents, the number one setter of Vietnam Men's Volleyball has the opportunity to show expertise and accumulate more experience.
However, the Asian Championship or ASIAD are arenas where many Vietnamese men's players are waiting for an opportunity to play. This is where major Asian teams participate, from which teams will show their level and class.
Vietnamese men's volleyball has been absent from ASIAD 19 held in 2023. This year, the opportunity to participate in ASIAD 20 may return. If the Vietnamese men's volleyball team participates in this playground, Dinh Van Duy and many Vietnamese men's volleyball players have the opportunity to participate to show their form.
For me, expertise must still be the top requirement and I must never lose focus in any tournament," Dinh Van Duy once shared after closing round 1 of the 2026 National Club Championship in Dong Anh (Hanoi).
At the end of the Hung Vuong Cup 2026, Dinh Van Duy was awarded the title of Best Secondary Player.
