Thanh Nhan was injured during the evening training session of the U23 Vietnam team on July 16, after an unbalanced ground clearance situation and having to miss the training session.
On the morning of July 17, this player was taken to the hospital for examination by the medical team using MRI scans. The results showed that Thanh Nhan suffered an injury to the left ankle ligament and could not recover in time to participate in the 2025 U23 Southeast Asian tournament.
This is not the first time this young striker has missed important matches and tournaments due to injury.
Previously, Thanh Nhan had to miss the 2023 Asian Cup finals, could not compete in the 32nd SEA Games bronze medal match and most recently could not participate in the 2024 U23 Asian Cup finals.
To promptly add the force, coach Kim Sang-sik decided to call back versatile midfielder Le Van Thuan to replace Thanh Nhan.
The Korean coach also expressed regret and encouraged Thanh Nhan to return home to have the best treatment conditions for recovery.
Le Van Thuan was born in 2006, and is one of the outstanding young players who grew up from Dong A Thanh Hoa training center. In the 2024-2025 season, Van Thuan was promoted to the first team of the Thanh team competing in the V.League and left many impressions with 16 appearances, scoring 4 goals and contributing 2 assists, thereby receiving the title of "Best Young Player of V.League 2024-2025".
With an impressive performance, Le Van Thuan was called up to the U23 Vietnam squad in preparation for the 2025 U23 Southeast Asian Championship, the 2026 U23 Asian qualifiers and towards the 33rd SEA Games. However, in the final list of 23 players, Van Thuan did not participate.
Thanh Nhan's unfortunate injury is a very regrettable thing for this player personally, but it opens up an opportunity for the 18-year-old midfielder of Dong A Thanh Hoa to re-join the national team, ready to take on the task of replacing his senior to contribute to the U23 Vietnam shirt at this year's regional tournament.
