Midfielder Chanathip Songkrasin has officially returned to the Thai national team after several training sessions without a name.
Chanathip will train with his teammates to prepare for the King's Cup 2024 and ASEAN Cup 2024 taking place at the end of this year.
Chanathip is the only veteran player called up this time, as stars like Theerathon Bunmathan, Sarach Yooyen and Teerasil Dangda continue to be absent.
Besides, Apisit Sorada, defender of Ratchaburi club, is the only notable new recruit in the FIFA Days gathering in October. Swedish-born striker Patrik Gustavsson, who scored against Vietnam, is not on the list.
The Thai team will have 23 players with an average age of 24; only 4 are over 30 years old including Chanathip, goalkeeper Saranon Anuin, defenders Suphanan Bureerat, Elias Dolah.
At the 2024 King’s Cup, Thailand will compete with Syria, Tajikistan, and the Philippines. The War Elephants’ first match will take place on October 11 against the Philippines, while Syria will face Tajikistan. The two winning teams will advance to the final on October 14.
