On August 26, Floyd Mayweather will have a match that the whole world is waiting for with famous British MMA fighter Conor McGregor. In addition to the fact that both are top fighters, attracting attention, this match is also getting more attention because this is the first time Mayweather has shaved his pants since announcing his retirement last year.
However, before taking the stage, Mayweather was "taunted" by the authorities over tax-related allegations. Specifically, according to the IRS (US Domestic Revenue Service), Mayweather still owes the tax he should have paid since 2015.
Citing a notice from the IRS, it said: "Although there is a large fortune, what Mayweather actually owns is low in liquidity. Mayweather remains obliged to pay back back backstanding taxes from 2015. This notice is valid for 60 days from the date of announcement".
It is known that the reason for this "unique athlete" debt stems from the sum of 220 million USD that he received after the match against Pacquiao in 2015. At the announcement, IRS also said that if Mayweather fails to pay the full amount of the remaining amount, he will be fined an additional 0.5% of the total monthly debt.
Currently, Mayweather is still in the process of resting and practicing since defeating Andre Berto in September 2015.
