The semi-final match between Yen Nhi and Charlotte Sorensen took place on the afternoon of September 12. The representative from Vietnam started the match quite slowly, scoring only 1 point after the first 6 turns. Meanwhile, an impressive scoring performance helped Charlotte Sorensen quickly take a 9-1 lead.
After that, the Vietnamese representative had a moment to shorten the gap to 11-14. However, from this point on, Charlotte Sorensen suddenly accelerated and won the final match with a score of 30-15 after 32 innings.
The win puts Charlotte Sorensen in the final, where she will face five-time world champion Therese Klompenhouwer.
As for Nguyen Hoang Yen Nhi, although she lost in the semi-final, she still made history for Vietnamese billiards by becoming the first female player to win a medal at a world billiards championship.
With the bronze medal in this tournament, Yen Nhi will receive about 4,400 USD in prize money.
