Hoài Việt |

Many opinions of experts, managers, representatives of Federations, Sports Associations and businesses doing sports business were given at the Conference on implementing the Strategy for Developing Vietnam's Sports to 2030, with a vision to 2045, held on November 12 in Hanoi to help Vietnamese sports develop most strongly.

Throughout are specific tasks

The Strategy was issued by the Government under Decision 1189/QD-TTg (October 15, 2024). Director of the Department of Physical Training and Sports Dang Ha Viet acknowledged that the Strategy is the specific and consistent content for sports managers at all levels as well as many ministries and branches to coordinate to implement the most effective task groups.

Developing Physical Education and Sports is the duty and responsibility of the entire political and social system, and is one of the important socio-economic tasks that requires the active and proactive participation of all social resources. At the same time, it is necessary to accelerate the process of innovating the management mechanism, organization methods, and activities of Physical Education and Sports, in accordance with the conditions, situation in the country and international trends, to meet the requirements of national development.

At the Conference, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism acknowledged many constructive comments. Giving his opinion, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Dao Cuong pointed out that this is a common Strategy for everyone to implement, not for any individual. Industry leaders emphasized that all levels, sectors, localities and units must develop and deploy implementation plans to ensure consistency, synchronization and rhythm. Heads of Party committees and authorities at all levels clearly identify the key tasks of their localities and units to focus on directing the development of programs and plans to implement the Strategy.

Strengthening the initiative, responsibility, improving the quality and effectiveness of the Strategy management, while ensuring that the program is implemented in practice and maximizes the resources for implementation. Vietnamese sports still focus on developing highly qualified human resources (athletes, coaches) but need to come up with solutions to build appropriate policy mechanisms. Most notably, the Strategy has emphasized the content of sports economics, so managers need to be proactive in doing well in this content area.

Achievement target

Vietnam's high-performance sports have tasks for the SEA Games, ASIAD and Olympic arenas. The strategy has been outlined for the SEA Games, we will maintain our position in the Top 2 countries with the highest achievements, and for the ASIAD, we will be in the Top 15, and the Olympics will be in the Top 50. Next, men's football will win a place in the World Cup, and women's football will also maintain the ability to win a place in the World Cup.

Before the Strategy was issued, the Central Executive Committee issued Conclusion 70-KL/TW (dated January 31, 2024) of the Politburo on the development of Physical Education and Sports in the new period. Therein, a content was clearly stated: “Focus on developing professional sports, high-performance sports, perfecting the system of discovering and training athletes, competing in professional sports, high-performance sports at national and international levels, especially key Olympic sports. Improve the quality and efficiency of training facilities, fostering athletes, coaches, physical education and sports officials to meet the development requirements in the new period. Focus on studying culture and politics, raising awareness of organization, discipline, ethics, will, and national pride for athletes”. A representative of the Department of Physical Education and Sports said that after the above Conference, opinions will be compiled and finalized in writing on the content of the Implementation Plan of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism for the Strategy for the Development of Physical Education and Sports of Vietnam to 2030, with a vision to 2045.
