Enough preparation time
It is expected that on October 25 in Bangkok (Thailand), the Organizing Committee of the 33rd SEA Games will officially announce the sports that will take place. In December 2025, the Games will officially be held. When there is full information about the number of sports and the number of events organized for the 33rd SEA Games, countries will have enough time to prepare and to some extent, the search for social resources to accompany the Sports Delegation must be carried out most thoroughly.
With the goal of striving to be in the top three leading delegations, there will be many Vietnamese sports forces participating. Finding a source of sponsorship for the Vietnamese Sports Delegation must be considered right now. The lesson of preparing for the 32nd SEA Games has proven that calling for socialized sponsorship for sports in difficult economic times is very difficult. That is also one of the reasons why the "hot" bonuses for athletes at the 32nd SEA Games were not as much as expected.
Sports economics
The Vietnam Sports Economic Forum has been held twice, in 2023 and 2024. Right before the Vietnam Sports Economic Forum took place, the Prime Minister approved the Strategy for the Development of Vietnam's Sports and Physical Training to 2030, with a vision to 2045.
In particular, one of the contents stated in the regulation on Development Resources is that sports need to be proactive in order to: "perfect policies to encourage socialization in a specific, appropriate and feasible direction; create conditions for businesses, organizations and individuals, especially economic groups, to participate in investing in the construction and operation of large-scale sports facilities, organize international sports events and support and sponsor key sports teams and athletes. Promote public-private cooperation, joint ventures, investment linkages, exploitation and operation of sports facilities, organize events, provide sports services...". The specific content of socialization also means that Vietnamese sports have enough opportunities to implement this work to find investment resources.
Director of the Department of Physical Training and Sports Dang Ha Viet discussed at the Vietnam Sports Economic Forum 2024 that socialization in sports is a correct and appropriate policy to find more economic resources to accompany sports activities. However, how to effectively implement the call for socialization is still a very difficult problem to solve because all industries and professions depend on socio-economic conditions.
For the future SEA Games, we will set specific goals to complete our professional tasks. Vietnamese sports receive investment and attention from the State, but when there are more social resources, the main beneficiaries are the athletes and coaches because they will receive more investment.
In fact, it is noted that calling for social resources and social resources for the preparation journey of Vietnamese sports for the SEA Games is always more favorable than when we prepare for the ASIAD or the Olympics.
