Mbappe once considered Arsenal
In a recent interview with the Telegraph, PSG rookie Kylian Mbappe revealed that he had a meeting with coach Arsene Wenger this summer. Arsenal was once an option considered by the striker if he left Monaco, but everyone knew Mbappe's last choice.
The Monaco top scorer last season shared: Yes, I have met Arsene Wenger, he is a great coach. He is an extremely famous person in France, very worthy of respect and the coach who knows how to exploit the potential of young players. It was a good choice for me. But of course PSG is the most important choice.
Yesterday (September 6), Mbappe made his media debut for his new team and had his first training session shortly after. A few hours before the 2017 summer transfer market closed (early morning of September 1, Vietnam time), PSG successfully borrowed Mbappe for 1 season from Monaco with a clause to buy him out for 180 million euros.
Phil Jones absent from the first round of the UEFA Champions League
Man United has withdrawn its complaint about a two-match suspension for UEFA's centre-back Phil Jones. The reason for this penalty is that Phil Jones insulted UEFA officials in the 2016 2017 Europa League final against Ajax Amsterdam.
Thus, this central defender will not be able to participate in Man United's reception of Basel in the first round of Group A of the UEFA Champions League 2017-2018. Previously, Phil Jones's first match out due to this penalty was last month's European Super Cup against Real Madrid.
He has started in all three of Man United's first Premier League games this season and has helped the team not concede any goals.
