Novak Djokovic had a not-so- easy victory over French tennis player Alexandre Muller with a score of 6-1, 6-7, 6-2, 6-2. Despite completely dominating the first set, the Serbian tennis player suddenly collapsed in the second set when he missed all 11 chances to win a break-point, before letting Muller equalize after a series of tense tie-breakers.
Djokovic even had to call the medical team due to digestive problems in the middle of the match. However, he quickly regained his form and completely controlled the game in the last two sets.
The 3-hour, 3-minute match saw Djokovic launch 50 wins, including 22 direct serve (ace), and only give the opponent a few rare chances in the return ball games. With this victory, Djokovic will meet host country tennis player Dan Evans in round 2.
Despite being the No. 6 seed this year, Djokovic has shown great determination to conquer his 8th Wimbledon title in his career. The 38-year-old has now lost just two of his last 42 Grand Slam games.
In the match taking place on the same day, world No. 1 tennis player Jannik Sinner easily defeated compatriot Luca Nardi 6-4, 6-3, 6-0 after 1 hour and 48 minutes. His next opponent is Aleksandar Vukic - who defeated Tseng Chun-Hsin in the first round.
