Swimmer Nguyen Thanh Loc won a bronze medal for the Vietnamese diving team on June 24. This is also the opening day of the 2026 World Championships, taking place in Korea.
Thanh Loc is the representative of the Vietnamese diving team participating in the final of the men's 50m breath-holding individual event.
The final competition has 8 athletes participating. In addition to Thanh Loc of the Vietnamese team, there are also athletes from Korea (2 people), China, Colombia, Turkey, France, Poland.
At the end of the race, swimmer Thanh Loc finished 3rd with a time of 14 seconds 22. The result helped the male athlete bring home the first bronze medal for the Vietnamese Diving Team in Korea this time.
In this event, the gold medal was won by Kwan Ho Lee (Korea, 13 seconds 87) and the silver medal was won by Myeongjun Shin (Korea, 13 seconds 93).
This is the 2nd time the Vietnamese diving team has won a medal when participating in tournaments at the World Championships.
In 2018, we had athlete Luu Nguyen Duc Tam win 1 bronze medal at the World Championships held in Serbia.
This year, the Vietnamese diving team registered 9 athletes to compete in the 2026 World Championships. The entire tournament competes in 36 events for men's and women's individual distances and relays according to the regulations of the World Diving Federation.
