On the afternoon of June 24, the Authority of Broadcasting and Electronic Information held a conference to summarize the first 6 months of 2026 and deploy tasks for the last 6 months of the year in the field of electronic information.
At the conference, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Huyen - Deputy Director of the Authority of Broadcasting and Electronic Information said that in the first 6 months of the year, the Authority received more than 300 violations in the field of electronic information provided by localities, an increase of nearly 10 times compared to the same period in 2025.
In the field of social network management, the Department has issued 4 decisions to sanction administrative violations against 1 general electronic information page and 3 social networks with a total amount of 185 million VND; reminded 7 cases of violations, transferred 1 case to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports for handling according to their authority, and at the same time applied additional forms of sanctions such as confiscation and recovery of violating domain names.

The Department also revoked 65 social network establishment licenses of 61 organizations and businesses due to not implementing the reporting regime, no longer meeting operating conditions or not remedying violations after being suspended.
Regarding online advertising activities, the Department has coordinated with the National Competition Commission to handle 1 enterprise and 3 cases of influential people violating legal regulations and lack of transparency in advertising activities on social networks, with a total fine of 105 million VND.
Along with that, the Department coordinated with the Department of Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention (A05) to handle and prevent 494 domain names showing signs of violation; organized 5 working sessions with Google, Meta and TikTok, requesting platforms to strengthen blocking and removing violating advertisements.
In the field of online electronic games, the management agency has coordinated with Google, Apple and the Vietnam Game Alliance to scan and prevent 690 violating games on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store, achieving a handling rate of 99% within 2-3 days from the time of sending the request. At the same time, coordinating with the Ministry of Public Security to prevent access to 245 websites related to advertising, providing unlicensed games and online gambling.
For domestic service providers, the Department has fined 3 violating businesses with a total amount of 235 million VND and applied the form of revoking the right to use the G1 license for a period of 45 days.
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Huyen, the work of preventing and removing bad and toxic information on cross-border platforms continues to achieve positive results, with an average processing rate on Facebook, YouTube and TikTok reaching over 94%.
In which, TikTok has blocked and removed 440 accounts, 10 audio files related to about 115,000 videos and 275 violating content. The processing time has been shortened to 3-12 hours, instead of about 24 hours before. This platform also proactively scans fake news, content created by AI, deploys content recognition labels produced by AI and strengthens child protection measures.
YouTube has blocked and removed 18 channels with nearly 13,000 violating videos, equivalent to about 165 million views and 545 other violating content, more than 2 times higher than the same period in 2025. Meanwhile, Meta has blocked and removed 63 accounts, pages and groups with 2,147 violating content; for the first time meeting the request to handle violating content on the Threads platform with 17 content removed.
The Vietnam Center for Handling Fake News and Toxic Information has received 1,287 complaints in the first 6 months of the year, including 850 complaints about bad and toxic news, 145 complaints about fake news, untrue news, 58 complaints related to online financial fraud and 28 complaints about online gambling and unlicensed games.
At the conference, there was also a discussion and interview between leaders of the Authority of Broadcasting, Television and Electronic Information and units and businesses on issues related to copyright, advertising and activities in the digital space.

Speaking at the conference, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Phan Tam said that the electronic information sector is entering a new stage of development with many fundamental changes.
If previously the focus was on managing information content, now it has gradually shifted to managing the digital ecosystem, managing platforms, algorithms and the social impacts that platforms create," Deputy Minister Phan Tam emphasized.

According to the Deputy Minister, management agencies need to shift from management thinking to development-creating thinking, taking law as the foundation, technology as a tool and dialogue and companionship as management methods. At the same time, build a healthy network cultural environment, promote the role of content creators and influencers in spreading positive values in cyberspace.
The Deputy Minister requested the Authority of Broadcasting and Electronic Information and units and localities to continue to promote the spirit of proactiveness, innovation, and creativity; strengthen coordination and share experiences in the process of building a healthy, safe and sustainable digital environment.
