DT Germany had a narrow 3-2 victory over DT Australia in the first match of Group B of the Confed Cup 2017 at Fischt Stadium in Sochi, Russia on the evening of June 18, Vietnam time.

Coach Joachim Low's team opened the scoring in the 5th minute. After midfielder Julian Brandt's dribble down the touchline on the right wing, he returned the ball to Stindl to finish in a very comfortable position.

Despite being given a superior position by DT Germany, the reigning Asian Cup champions still had an equalizer in the 41st minute. Rogic immediately volleyed past goalkeeper Leno after his first kick against centre-back Mustafi.

However, DT Duc scored a second goal before the end of the first half. In the 44th minute, PSG star Julian Draxler successfully executed the 11m kick. Previously, the main referee had ruled that midfielder Goretzka had been fouled by Luongo in the Australian Open penalty area.

Right at the beginning of the second half, exactly in the 48th minute, DT Duc increased the gap to 2 goals. Kimmich had a good pass for his teammate Goretzka to run down and finish from a tight angle.

However, the fighting spirit of Australian team has not declined. They shortened the score to 2-3 in the 56th minute. Rogic's rebound kick after his teammate's free kick bounced the ball off striker Juric and German goalkeeper Leno could not catch the ball. Immediately, Juric had a shot that Leno did not have time to counter. With this goal, the main referee had to ask for help from video referees to recognize the goal as valid.
