The Vietnamese Esports team ranked 2nd at the SEA Esports Nations Cup 2026 (SNC 2026) tournament held for the first time in Southeast Asia.

SNC 2026 is co-hosted by VNGGames with the Southeast Asian Electronic Sports Federation (SEAEF) and the Organizing Committee of Vietnam GameVerse (Vietnam Game Festival). The event takes place from May 8-9 at SECC, Ho Chi Minh City.

SNC 2026 gathers 11 Southeast Asian countries, with 93 athletes participating throughout the stages, including the national qualifying round and the live final round. The first season has 4 competition categories with 6 medal-winning events, total production and live broadcast time of about 22 hours, with the participation of more than 150 organizational and technical personnel and more than 30 international delegates and officials.

At the end of the matches, the Vietnamese Esports team won 1 gold medal, 3 silver medals and 1 bronze medal, ranking 2nd overall. The only gold medal of the team belonged to the PUBG Mobile team event of Nguyen Anh Quan and Phan Van Dong.

Meanwhile, the Indonesian Esports team leads with 3 gold medals, 1 silver medal and 1 bronze medal. The remaining two gold medals of the tournament belong to the Singapore and Thailand teams.

According to the Vietnam Electronic Sports and Entertainment Association (VIRESA), SNC 2026 is not only a competition event, but also an important step in forming the national team competition system of the region, associated with the e-sports development roadmap in parallel with the SEA Games, Asian Games and international e-sports orientations in the future.

Through the tournament, athletes compete not only as individuals or clubs, but also as representatives of the national flag and colors, thereby creating a new competitive space where national pride, regional identity and Southeast Asian spirit converge.

In particular, also within the framework of Vietnam GameVerse 2026, the signing ceremony of cooperation to organize the annual SEA Esports Nations Cup in Vietnam from 2026 is being implemented between SEAEF, the Vietnam GameVerse Organizing Committee and VNGGames.

In this cooperation model, SEAEF plays the role of orienting the regional competition framework; VNGGames contributes to bringing leading Esports disciplines and ensuring professional criteria in operation and production; while FPT Online is a partner in deploying and connecting the platform. This cooperation model demonstrates a new cooperation model between e-sports, the game industry, media and creative fields.

This year is the first time Vietnam GameVerse has cooperated with SEAEF to organize an official e-sports tournament at the event. We hope that through the first season, the bond between ASEAN countries in general and e-sports of Southeast Asian countries in particular will have a new development.

In recent days, we have seen the enthusiasm and passion of the players and teams in the first season. We believe that with the success of the first season, in the following years, Vietnam GameVerse will apply for permission to continue organizing Southeast Asian Esports tournaments," Mr. Le Quang Tu Do, Director of the Authority of Broadcasting and Electronic Information - Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism shared when closing the event on the evening of May 9.
