On February 13, Thai authorities officially announced the arrest of two individuals related to fraud scandals at the 33rd SEA Games.
Accordingly, the Crime Prevention Bureau has coordinated with representatives of the Thai Esports Association to hold a press conference to announce the arrest warrant for the famous female athlete nicknamed "Tokyo Girl" - Naphat Warasin (29 years old) and gamer Cheerio (23 years old).
According to initial investigation results, both were accused of illegally accessing the protected computer system, and at the same time leaking data under their own management. The incident originated from the Women's Team Joint Venture (RoV) competition at SEA Games 33, with the participation of 4 teams Vietnam, Laos, Timor-Leste and host Thailand.
In the semi-final match between Thailand and Vietnam on December 15, the referee discovered unusual signs in the home team's playing process. After consideration, the organizers decided to strip the Thai women's team of the right to play. The Thai Esports Association then conducted verification and discovered that Naphat had provided a personal account specifically for herself for Cheerio to use.
The investigating agency determined that before the match, Naphat switched to a device with the pre-installed Discord application for Cheerio to log in and wait for remote support. However, because she did not complete the procedure to enter the exam room in time, she was forced to compete on her own. During this process, the screen switching and opening of the chat application were discovered, becoming clear evidence of the violation. As a result, the entire Thai women's team withdrew from the tournament.
Searching in the two localities, police seized phones, IP data and related conversation content. In early February 2026, the file was transferred to prosecutors for prosecution under the Computer Crimes Law, with penalties that may include imprisonment and fines.
In addition to violations at the SEA Games, the two also admitted to having had "hired farming" ranking agreements many times before. The association decided to ban Naphat from competing permanently; Cheerio was also banned from participating in all activities managed by the association.
TESF representatives publicly apologized to the public, emphasizing that wearing the national team jersey is a pride that cannot be exchanged for personal gain.
