At the age of 20, Slovenian athlete Nika Prevc has become the 3rd person in her family to step onto the Olympic medal podium in the ski jump event.
On the latest competition day, Nika Prevc achieved a total score of 266.2; ranked behind Anna Odine Strom of Norway with a close gap of 1.1 points. Japanese athlete Maruyama Nozomi won a bronze medal with 261.8 points.
The Prevc family has long been considered a symbol of Slovenian ski jumping. Oldest brother Peter Prevc is an iconic face with a collection of 4 Olympic medals and many major titles at the World Cup.
In addition, Cene Prevc once won a Olympic silver medal in the men's team event, contributing to affirming Slovenia's position in the world of long jumping.
Another brother is Domen Prevc, who is still playing at his peak and is leading the men's World Cup rankings, and is also ranked 6th at this year's Winter Olympics.
The passion for long jump skiing of the Prevc brothers originated from their father, a long-time international referee. Among the 5 siblings, up to 4 pursued a career as professional athletes.
Although only 20 years old, Nika already has a remarkable record with 2 world championships, a World Cup title and a women's world record with a jump of 236m. She is highly appreciated by experts for her decisive playing style, good technical control and steadfast mentality in important jumps.
Outside the stadium, Nika is still a university student and is working in the Slovenian police force.
The silver medal at Milano-Cortina 2026 not only consolidates Nika Prevc's position in the group of top athletes in the world, but also continues to write a new chapter for the rare story of the Prevc family.
