Giap Tuan Duong's football journey started very early. At the age of 11, while his peers were still stealing books to go to school every day, Tuan Duong decided to go to Hanoi with his father to compete in the youth club of the People's Police football club.
Giap Tuan Duong shared that in his first days of studying football, the homesickness was always present in his mind.
In addition, the dense cultural calendar and exercise schedule made Duong feel heartbroken. But the 11-year-old boy at that time still persevered in overcoming, nurturing his passion for football and dreaming of playing in big leagues.
After about 3 years of playing for Thai Nguyen U13 on loan and training at the U15 national team of the Vietnam Football Federation, Giap Tuan Duong returned to the club and competed for the first time in the People's Public Security jersey at the 2017 National U17 tournament.
Recalling this moment, the defender born in 2002 said: "The first time I was wearing this shirt in an official tournament was a moment I will never forget".
When asked about a strong mark in his career journey, Tuan Duong said: "The 2022 National First Division is an unforgettable season. The final whistle moment in the match against Pho Hien club, we won the promotion.
The championship and ticket to play in V.League 2023 are the result of a united team and tireless efforts. For me personally, it was a big turning point, a testament to both my professional maturity and competitive spirit.
That season, Giap Tuan Duong was one of the outstanding players in the squad of the People's Public Security club. He had the most minutes played in the team, contributing greatly to helping coach Thach Bao Khanh's team win the championship.
Pride with the Hanoi Police Club
In the V.League playground, despite having to compete in an environment with many Vietnamese football stars, Tuan Duong still received the trust of coaches of the Hanoi Police club (name changed after promotion).
For Tuan Duong, every drop of sweat, every drop of tear on the football field has a special meaning: " competing for Hanoi Police is a great honor for me personally. This is not just a simple team, but also a symbol of tradition, discipline and the spirit of serving the Fatherland. I am always aware of my responsibility, playing football for the flag and shirt, the trust of fans and the honor of the Public Security sector.
His efforts were rewarded when at the age of 23, he played for all national team levels, from U14, U16, U19, U23 to the Vietnam national team. That is not only personal pride but also a testament to the persistent training journey of a player who has grown up from the Police training center.
Every time I play with the national team, I not only play for myself but also carry the image of the club. That is an opportunity to spread the good values that I have been trained in such as discipline, courage, and dedication, Tuan Duong is proud.
After the end of the 2024-2025 season, Giap Tuan Duong received a special gift from the place that made his name. At the end of June, Hanoi Police Football Club extended the contract of this central defender until 2028. This is a commitment, attachment and together looking forward to the future, continuing the beautiful story with the football of the Public Security sector.
