At home, the Vietnam women's volleyball team ended their impressive journey at the AVC Nations Cup 2025 with their third consecutive championship.
In this year's tournament, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and his team passed the group stage with 4 consecutive wins 3-0 against opponents Hong Kong (China), Taiwan (China), India and Australia. Thanh Thuy and her teammates not only showed their superior strength but also showed stability in both attack and defense.
Despite facing a lot of pressure when competing as the home team and the only goal being to win the championship, the girls in red shirts played steadfastly and bravely.
In the semi-finals, the Vietnam team will face the defending runner-up Kazakhstan - a team with superior physique and not easy to defeat. The opponent's lack of service of captain Sana Anarkulova somewhat made it easier for the home team to deploy their attacks.
Despite their defeat in set 2, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team regained their spirit and won 3-1 to play the final match in the AVC Nations Cup for the third consecutive time.
The final opponent of the Vietnamese girls is the Philippines team - a familiar name in Southeast Asia. However, the opponent could not cause a surprise. With a solid, effective playing style and the smooth brilliance of the positions, the Vietnam women's team easily won 3-0, thereby successfully defending the championship title.
The third consecutive trophy in the Asian playground brought positive signals, showing that Vietnamese women's volleyball is at the peak of stability and development.
Speaking after the final match, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet acknowledged the determination of the players to win the championship.
The 1976-born coach said: "The most important thing is the cohesion of the athletes. When combined, the blocking and attacking ability of the Vietnam women's volleyball team is good. However, we still have some things to improve, such as defense and first-step training.
In this tournament, the team creates conditions for the players to play. In this year's tournament, players such as Bich Thuy or Nguyen Thi Uyen were allowed to return to the field in the Vietnam women's volleyball team after 2 years. They have tried but the team certainly has to prepare more. I see this tournament as a premise for players to gradually become more confident."
Closing the journey at AVC Nations Cup 2025, today (June 15), the Vietnam women's volleyball team will travel to Quang Ninh to continue training. Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and his team will have about 10 days to prepare for the VTV Cup 2025, starting from June 28 in Vinh Phuc.
