In the afternoon of September 21, Nguyen Thi Dieu Ly entered the bronze medal match in the women's 68kg karate sparring event at ASIAD 20. The opponent of the Vietnamese martial artist is Kamat Tsubasa of Japan.
The match took place fiercely when both fighters scored 4 points. According to the results announced by the organizers, Dieu Ly and Kamat Tsubasa both had 1 Yuko and 1 Ippon.
With the two martial artists drawing 4-4, the victory was determined for Nguyen Thi Dieu Ly thanks to the Senshu rule - the martial artist who scores first is prioritized when the match ends in a draw.
This result helped Nguyen Thi Dieu Ly win a bronze medal in the women's 68kg event, and also brought home the 3rd medal for the Vietnamese sports delegation at ASIAD 20.
Previously, on the morning of September 20, Bui Ngoc Nhi won a bronze medal in the women's individual kata karate event after defeating Leong Wai Yee Shannon (Singapore) with a score of 4-1. This is the 2nd medal of the Vietnamese sports delegation at the Games.
The first medal belonged to Nguyen Hoang Minh Tan and Trinh Gia Nghi in the mixed doubles teqball event. The Vietnamese pair defeated Dsouza Quimcy Joaquim and Beg Mohamed Anas Imran of India with a score of 2-0 in the bronze medal match.
Thus, after Nguyen Thi Dieu Ly won a bronze medal, the Vietnamese sports delegation has 3 medals at ASIAD 20, all of which are bronze medals.
ASIAD 20 takes place in Aichi - Nagoya (Japan), with the participation of leading Asian athletes.
