On August 14, the 2026 Asian Junior and Youth Weightlifting Championships closed in the arena in Uzbekistan.
In this year's competition, the coaching staff of the Vietnamese Youth Weightlifting Team has registered 15 athletes to participate in weight classes for men and women.
The Asian Weightlifting Federation has competed in 16 events for young champions, including 60kg, 65kg, 70kg, 75kg, 85kg, 95kg, 110kg, over 110kg (men) and 49kg, 53kg, 57kg, 61kg, 69kg, 77kg, 86kg, over 86kg (women).
The youth championship competition program also took place in 16 weight categories, including: 55kg, 60kg, 65kg, 70kg, 75kg, 85kg, 95kg, over 95kg (men) and 45kg, 49kg, 53kg, 57kg, 61kg, 69kg, 77kg, over 77kg (women).
In each weight class, the Organizing Committee awarded medals for achievements for the results respectively in snatch, clean and jerk and total lift.
In this tournament, weightlifter Hung Van The won the first gold medal for the Vietnamese Youth Weightlifting Team.
Hung Van The won a gold medal in the snatch event with a result of 110kg in the 55kg male junior champion category.
Following that, we have 4 more gold medals respectively from athlete Nguyen Thanh Duy (1 gold medal in clean and jerk, reaching 153kg in the 65kg male junior weight class) and Thach Hoang Sang (3 gold medals including snatch (134kg), clean and jerk (157kg), total (291kg) in the 65kg junior championship weight class).
Throughout the tournament, the Vietnamese Youth Weightlifting Team has 4 gold medals, 4 silver medals, and 9 bronze medals.
