According to current regulations on commendation in sports competitions, the Vietnam Department of Physical Education and Sports is advising leaders to award the First Class Labor Medal for the world championship achievements of chess player General Lai Ly Huynh.
Through research, player Nguyen Thanh Bao is also on the list of people advised to award the First Class Labor Medal.
The Vietnamese chess team competed in the 2025 World Championship in Shanghai (China) recently. At the end of the competition, player Lai Ly Huynh won 1 individual standard gold medal and 1 team standard silver medal. Khuyen Thanh Bao won a silver medal in the team-class chess.
The players of the Vietnamese chess team have returned home after the competition. Lai Ly Huynh's individual standard yellow flag medal is the most important championship the player has ever won.
Since the General Chess Championship was held in 1990, until before the 2025 tournament took place, the championship of the individual standard chess event for men has always belonged to Chinese players. Lai Li Huynh has broken this monopoly in this year's tournament.
Lai Ly Huynh was born in 1990 and is a chess player of Ho Chi Minh City Sports.
