The coaching staff of the Vietnam General Chess Team said that world champion Lai Ly Huynh will arrive in Vietnam on the evening of September 28. The Vietnamese chess team left China and returned to Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. It is expected that Lai Li Huang will return to Ho Chi Minh City.
The leader of the Vietnamese chess team at the tournament - Mr. Nguyen Minh Thang - said that the whole team is in good spirits after winning the historic championship.
At the 2025 World Championship, the Vietnam Chess Team won 1 gold medal, 1 silver medal and 1 bronze medal. The achievement of winning the men's individual standard chess championship is the only gold medal of the Vietnam General Chess Team in this year's tournament.
Last year, Lai Li Huynh participated in the final of the men's individual standard chess tournament but only won the runner-up position. After winning the gold medal at the 2025 World Championship, Lai Ly Huynh was awarded 1.1 billion VND by the former President of the Vietnam Chess Federation - Mr. Nguyen Huu Luan. Runner-up Nguyen Thanh Bao was given a bonus of 100 million VND.
This year, the Vietnam General Chess Team participated in the tournament, including players Lai Ly Huynh, Nguyen Thanh Bao, Dam Thi Thuy Dung, Kieu Bich Thuy ( Participating in the championship system).
