In the semi-final match, Lai Ly Huynh played excellently, overcoming the home player Trieu Phan Vi.
The two sides competed in 2 standard chess games in the first and second legs. In the first leg, Lai Ly Huynh won. In the second leg, the two sides ended in a draw.
With such a result, Lai Ly Huynh defeated Trieu Phan Vi with a final score of 3-1.
The remaining semi-final is the match between player Doan Thang and Trinh Vu Dong. This is a semi-final with fierce competition. Both players maintained a draw in 2 standard chess games, so the match required a quick chess game to resolve the overall result.
In the rapid chess match, Trinh Vu Dong defeated Doan Thang. Therefore, player Trinh Vu Dong won the overall victory with a score of 4-2.
The final match of the Ngu Duong Boi Chess Tournament 2026 will take place at 6 pm on March 1st between Lai Ly Huynh and Trinh Vu Dong.
This year's tournament attracts 16 players with the highest level to compete.
Among them, 15 Chinese players and 1 Vietnamese player is Lai Ly Huynh. Chinese players competed in the qualifying round from January 2026 to compete for a place in the final round, while Lai Ly Huynh was awarded a wildcard by the Organizing Committee to participate in the tournament. Lai Ly Huynh is currently the world champion (standard chess).
