The announcement was made by grandmaster Le Quang Liem on May 1st (US time).
Sharing on his personal Facebook social network page, the No. 1 chess player of Vietnam said that after many years of being attached to this school, his time with Webster University (USA) is coming to an end.
The reason is that Webster School has decided not to continue the chess program here.
Le Quang Liem has held the position of head coach of the chess team of Webster University (USA) since 2021.
In 2013, the Vietnamese chess player received a scholarship from this university to study in the US. During his professional studies, Quang Liem competed for the Webster University chess team (USA). After graduating from Webster University, grandmaster Le Quang Liem continued to stay here to work.
As of 2026, the Webster University chess team has had 14 years of formation and development, and students from this school have won 2 world championships, 3 gold medals at the Olympiad and 90 national titles.
Although no longer working at Webster University, Le Quang Liem is still living in the US and continues to have some new orientations for his career. This year, this grandmaster enters the age of 35.
In September, it is almost certain that Le Quang Liem will continue to participate with the Vietnamese Chess Team in the 2026 Olympiad in Uzbekistan.
