The qualifying round of the Roland Garros Junior Series by Renault East, South East and South Asia (Dong A, Southeast Asia and South Asia) in Hainan, China from August 18 to 23 gathered 24 top young tennis players in the region to participate.
According to information from the Vietnam Tennis Federation (VTF), tennis player Le Tien Anh (born in 2011, Army unit) - a promising young face of Vietnamese tennis - is the only representative of Southeast Asia participating in the tournament. This is an important milestone, affirming a new step forward for Vietnamese youth tennis in the international arena.
In the first match on August 18, Le Tien Anh created a big surprise when he successfully defeated Indian No. 2 seed player Ranvir Singh after 3 dramatic sets with a score of 2-1 (6-3, 5-7, 6-2). This victory not only affirms Tien Anh's steadfast competitive spirit, but also opens up the hope of going deep in the tournament.
The qualifying round takes place in China as part of the Roland Garros Junior Series by Renault system, organized by the French Tennis Federation (FFT) in collaboration with the Asian Tennis Federation (ATF). This is a great opportunity for excellent young tennis players to win 2 places to participate in the Roland Garros Junior Championships 2026 - the only youth Grand Slam on clay.
In history, Vietnam had tennis player Ly Hoang Nam win the junior doubles championship at the Grand Slam Wimbledon in 2015.
