The Vietnam men's volleyball team won a ticket to the quarter-finals of the AVC Nations Cup 2025 after a 3-0 victory over New Zealand because their opponent lost 0-3 to South Korea in the first match.
Coach Tran Dinh Tien and his team will face Korea to determine the top spot in the group. The two teams met in the third-place match of the AVC Challenge Cup 2023 (the predecessor of the AVC Nations Cup). South Korea won with a score of 3-1.
In this reunion, the Vietnam men's volleyball team is still rated lower than the Korean team. On the world rankings as of the evening of June 18, Vietnam was ranked 53rd, while South Korea was ranked 25th and 5th in Asia.
Therefore, this will be a difficult match for the Vietnam team. However, not being pressured because they have a ticket to the quarterfinals helps Dinh Van Duy and his teammates feel comfortable and demonstrate their abilities.
The bright spot of Vietnamese men's volleyball is still the names that played well in the opening match such as Ngoc Thuan, Nguyen Van Quoc Duy, Quan Trong Nghia... In which, Quoc Duy is expected to shine with powerful left-handed smashes, setting the floor.
The match between the Vietnamese and Korean men's volleyball teams will take place at 8:30 p.m. today (June 19). Currently, no Vietnamese television station has the rights to broadcast matches of the AVC Nations Cup 2025.
Therefore, this tournament is broadcast live, free of charge on VolleyballWorld's YouTube channel. Lao Dong Newspaper will live updated the matches of the Vietnam men's volleyball team.
