In the 2024-2025 V.League season, My Dinh National Stadium was chosen by The Cong Viettel Club as its home ground. In the home debut match, coach Nguyen Duc Thang's team will face the same city team - Hanoi FC, which is also one of the most anticipated matches in round 2.
Previously, in the 2023 season, The Cong Viettel competed with Hanoi FC at My Dinh Stadium in the final match. However, at that time, My Dinh Stadium was only a temporary solution when Hang Day Stadium hosted the match between Hanoi Police and Thanh Hoa.
Therefore, the recent “Capital derby” was the official debut of Hoang Duc and his teammates. Before the match, it rained heavily in Hanoi, making the air chilly. The sky at My Dinh Stadium darkened earlier. However, close to the match time, the weather seemed to support the performance of both teams, with only a few drops of rain.
Many people think that the match between The Cong Viettel and Hanoi FC will be gloomy. Because the stands of My Dinh Stadium are larger and wider than Hang Day Stadium, it is easy to create the feeling that the fans are scattered and difficult to fill. However, many fans came to the stadium to cheer on the players of both teams, creating a very exciting atmosphere, especially in the central area of stand B - the place for The Cong Viettel fans.
With favorable conditions, on the field, the players gave the fans an eye-catching match. With an equal balance of forces, and the nature of a "capital derby", The Cong Viettel and Hanoi FC entered the match confidently and proactively from the first minutes. The players of both teams played with all their might, making efforts in every phase of the ball, continuously creating attractive situations of giving and receiving.
In the stands, the Hanoi FC fans played the role of “guests”. Every time Van Quyet and Hung Dung created dangerous plays, the traditional song of the purple team rang out. However, the most exciting atmosphere belonged to the red-shirted fans, with the shouts of “The Cong Viettel” echoing throughout the stadium.
The debut of The Cong Viettel at My Dinh Stadium became even more perfect when in the 90th minute, foreign player Amarildo surpassed Kyle Colonna, headed the ball into the net of goalkeeper Van Hoang, sealing a dramatic 2-1 victory for the army team. The coaching staff and players of the home team rushed out to celebrate.
In the B stand, The Cong Viettel fans had a chance to celebrate. The drums and cheers were incessant, along with the red flags with yellow stars fluttering. Coach Nguyen Duc Thang and his players had a perfect debut at My Dinh Stadium.
After the match, the coach born in 1976 shared: “My Dinh Stadium has a good pitch, the players handled the game better than in round 1 when playing at Thong Nhat Stadium. This match is very important, aiming to celebrate the 70th anniversary of The Cong Traditional Day and the establishment of the team's Fan Club”.
