Nguyen Huy Hoang and the Vietnamese Swimming Team won on the first day of September 12 at the 2025 Southeast Asian Long-distance Swimming Championship held in Thailand.
On the competition day, two important swimmers Nguyen Huy Hoang and Vo Thi My Tien participated in the men's 10km and women's 10km distances and won gold medals.
The men's 10km distance has 8 athletes from Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore, and Indonesia. Nguyen Huy Hoang finished first, winning the championship with a time of 1:52 second, 44.66 seconds. In second place, silver medalist was Singaporean athlete Artyom Lukasevits (2:07:38.72 seconds). Third place, receiving the bronze medal was Aflah Fadian Prawira (Indonesia, 2 hours and 10 minutes 49.01 seconds).
In the women's 10km distance, swimmer Vo Thi My Tien had a best time of 2 hours 25 minutes 05 seconds to win the gold medal. The distance has 3 athletes participating.
This is the 3rd time the Southeast Asian Long-distance Swimming Championship has been held, but the Vietnamese Swimming Team has only participated for the first time. Therefore, the result of Huy Hoang and My Tien is their first gold medal at the Southeast Asian tournament.
On the same day, September 12, Nguyen Ngoc Tuyet Han won the gold medal in the 10km distance for women aged 16-17 with a time of 2 hours 28 minutes 40.11 seconds). The event had 8 athletes participating.
The swimming competition takes place from September 12 to September 14. The Vietnam team registered 7 athletes to participate. The race has events of 5km, 10km men's; 5km, 10km women's; mixed 4x1500m men's and women's (2 men's, 2 women's) for each age group.
