The Vietnam men's volleyball team ended the AVC Nations Cup 2025 (held in Bahrain) in 8th place. The whole team returned home on June 25. Coach Tran Dinh Tien and his team will return to professional training at a training location in Hanoi to participate in the SEA V.League 2025.
The first round of SEA V.League 2025 will take place in the Philippines from July 9 to July 13. The next round is expected to be held in Indonesia a week later. Thus, the Vietnam men's volleyball team will have about 10 days to prepare for the tournament.
One of the players who receives the most expectations from the Vietnam men's volleyball team is the main striker Nguyen Ngoc Thuan. This player showed confidence and shone at the recent AVC Nations Cup 2025.
According to statistics from the organizing committee, this hitter scored 11, 13, 15, 30 and 24 points respectively in 5 matches of the Vietnam men's volleyball team. Thus, Ngoc Thuan scored a total of 93 points in this year's tournament.
He ranked 2nd in the list of athletes with the most points of the tournament, only behind Yu-Sheng Chang of Taiwan (China) - who scored 104 points.
In the match against the champion of 2024 - Qatar in the quarter-finals, Ngoc Thuan was the one who scored the most points with 30 points. The male player contributed greatly to helping the Vietnamese men's volleyball team create a surprise when playing fairly with the opponent, taking the match to the deciding set 5.
Ngoc Thuan's professional performance is assessed to have made clear progress compared to 2024. Powerful smashes and the ability to choose smart positions help him often break the blocks of strong teams like Qatar and Indonesia. In particular, his proactiveness in defense in the back line is also a big plus for this player.
Evaluating Ngoc Thuan, coach Tran Dinh Tien once shared that he is a player with professional qualities, good discipline in training but still needs more time to improve his first defense.
Showing confidence when entering the continental arena, AVC Nations Cup 2025 is a tournament that will see Ngoc Thuan play brilliantly. Certainly, the main striker born in 1999 is still the top important factor in coach Tran Dinh Tien's squad.
Ngoc Thuan will be a mainstay for his teammates, expected to shine in the upcoming SEA V.League to help the Vietnam men's volleyball team get the best results.
