On the morning of August 29, at Nghia Lo ward stadium, the 1st Vietnamese Ethnic Minority Women's Football Tournament - VTV Cup 2026 closed with the final match between Luc Yen (Lao Cai) and Dak Doa (Gia Lai).
Attending the final match were Mr. Dang Khanh Toan - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Chief of the Party Central Committee Office; Mr. Nguyen Thanh Lam - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department, General Director of Vietnam Television.
On the side of Lao Cai province, there were Mr. Duong Quoc Huy - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Mr. Nguyen Tuan Anh - Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Ms. Giang Thi Dung - Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation, along with a large number of people and tourists.
Before the final match, both Luc Yen and Dak Doa showed impressive form. Dak Doa is the defending champion of the Gia Lai Provincial Ethnic Minority Women's Football Tournament.
In the quarterfinals, this team won a resounding 9-0 victory over Nghia Lo, then overcame Lam Binh with a score of 2-1 in the semi-finals.
Meanwhile, Luc Yen is the representative of the home team Lao Cai and also made a strong impression on the journey to the final match.
The girls from the land of Ngoc won 6-0 against Vo Lao in the quarterfinals, before overcoming Van Son (Phu Tho) with a score of 1-0 in the semi-finals.
For the players participating in the Vietnamese Ethnic Minority Women's Football Tournament - VTV Cup I, 2026, football is not a profession.
Most of them are women who are used to dirty hands, early field trips, taking care of fields and daily livelihoods.
But when the whistle sounded, the ball became a special joy.
In the final match, the two teams entered the game at high speed. Fierce duels continuously took place in the midfield area, while both Luc Yen and Dak Doa actively sought opportunities.
In the 7th minute, Nong Thi Chien launched a quick long-range shot, putting the ball into Dak Doa's net, helping Luc Yen take a 1-0 lead.
Conceding a goal, Dak Doa immediately pushed up the squad. The efforts of the team from Gia Lai were rewarded in the 18th minute when captain Thuon scored, bringing the match back to balance.
In the 39th minute, Bui Thi Hong took advantage of the opportunity to score, putting Luc Yen once again ahead with a score of 2-1.
In the remaining minutes, Dak Doa focused on finding an equalizer. However, Luc Yen's defense played focused, neutralizing the opponent's attacks and successfully preserving the advantage.
In the end, Luc Yen won 2-1 against Dak Doa, thereby winning the championship of the Vietnamese Women's Ethnic Minority Football Tournament - VTV Cup for the first time in 2026.
After the match, player number 7 Bui Thi Hong - who scored the second goal for Luc Yen - could not hide her joy.
I am very happy to have scored the goal that brought Lao Cai to the peak of glory. Being able to contribute to our province is our joy and pride," Bui Thi Hong expressed.
Head coach of Luc Yen women's football team Nguyen Viet Ha also shared: "I am really happy and happy. Thank you to the audience in the province as well as nationwide for cheering for our team.
Immediately after the final match, the Organizing Committee held a closing ceremony and awarded the Champion Cup and prizes to collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements.
In addition to professional awards, the Organizing Committee also awarded many awards with the unique colors of the tournament such as the oldest player, sports family, style award, team with beautiful competition costumes and most loved team.
