Saigon Pro-Am Basketball Cup 2025 marks the 3rd season held, promising to bring dramatic matches right from the group stage. The teams are gathering the strongest squads with the goal of making their names on the list of the Vietnam Pro-Am Basketball Championship 2025 national finals.
Before the tournament, 10 Ho Chi Minh City teams rushed to gather and complete the registration list with famous names in the basketball world. According to the regulations, each team is allowed to register a maximum of 2 foreign players but only 1 person is allowed to play at the same time, so most teams make the most of the foreign player opportunities.
Most notably is the IN'N'OUT team with a "blockbuster" contract named Kentrell Barkley - a top foreign player in recent Vietnamese basketball tournaments. In addition, the tournament also brings together familiar names such as Yevgen Sakhniuk (Next Level Hyper hall) or Davon Dillard (Tsunami Dreamers).
The veteran faces of Vietnamese basketball are also attracting the attention of fans. Le Hieu Thanh, Pham Hien Tai, Le Khac Dang Khoa will all compete in the Baller Club jersey, promising to create attractive competition with opponents.
Besides Kentrell Barkley, IN'N'OUT owns a team of excellent players including Nguyen Hoang Tuan, Du Minh An, Dang Thai Hung, Trieu Han Minh and Tim Waale. Meanwhile, Next Level Hyper hall brings together Stefan Nguyen, Hoang Tu and Jimmy Kien. The reigning AIP Dreamers champions will return to the 2025 season with a new name - Tsunami Dreamers, under the leadership of coach Nam Pao and a almost completely different squad.
Among the faces that won the championship in 2024, only Michael soy remains. Instead, the team welcomed a series of new factors including Tam Dinh, Dinh Tien Cong, Nguyen Anh Kiet, To Ngoc Khanh and Nguyen Phuc Vinh, creating a team with great competition for the journey to defend the throne.
Tsunami Dreamers and 3F Phu Tho (4th in SBC 2024) were seeded in Group A, while Next Level Hyper hall (runner-up 2024) and INNOUT (3rd) held the seed position of Group B.
The draw for the group stage has taken place, Group A promises to be an attractive group, gathering teams that are rated much higher than the general level of the tournament, with the remaining positions belonging to Baller Club, Solar and Saigon Souls.
Meanwhile, Group B has the participation of Passion Team - the youngest team in the tournament with an average age of only 19, along with Saigon Hot and Pick'N'Roll, promising to bring many surprises.
Saigon Pro-Am Basketball Cup 2025 is not only a race for the championship, but also a fierce competition for the last 4 tickets to the national finals of Vietnam Pro-Am Basketball Championship 2025, scheduled to take place at the end of October 2025 in Hanoi. The Top 4 of SBC 2025 will face the Top 4 of HBC 2025 (3F Galaxy, Ba Dinh, PKKQ Peak, Hidden Dragons) and Top 2 of DBC 2025 (Hustle Hoa Binh, X-DBC).
