In the 7th match of the 2018 World Cup qualifiers in Europe, the Croatia National Team only had to face a slight opponent, Kosovo (the team currently ranked low in Group I with 1 point after 6 matches).
The match was originally scheduled for Saturday, but after the two teams had just played for 22 minutes, a huge rain hit the capital Zagreb, causing the referee to temporarily postpone it.
When seeing that the rain was showing no signs of stopping, the organizing committee decided to postpone the competition day of the two teams to Sunday. Croatia solved the opponent's problem and bagged all 3 points at Maksimir Stadium.
This victory helped the red and white carrot striped team firmly take the top spot in Group I, the 2018 World Cup qualifiers in Europe with 16 points, 2 points more than the second-placed team, Ukraine. The advantage is in the hands of coach Ante Čačić's team because in the last 3 matches, they only have to face Türkiye, Finland and Ukraine.
The match between Coratia and Türkiye in the 8th round will take place at 1:45 a.m. on September 6, Vietnam time.
