Owner Tran Thi Thanh Thuy wore Kuzeyboru women's volleyball team to play in the Turkish national championship from the beginning of the 2024 - 2025 season.
At the national championships, she did not have many opportunities to play as the domestic arena here limited foreign fighters to play on the field. After 7 matches in 7 rounds, Vietnam's batter was only used by head coach Mehmet for about 2 short minutes at the end of the first set in the loss to THY (round 3).
In the remaining six matchdays, Binh Duong's batter only appeared on the bench and was not used a minute by coach Mehmet Bedestenlioglu. Thanh Thuy's meager playing time did not give her a chance.
This even sparked rumors that the Vietnamese women's volleyball player terminated his contract early with the Turkish team due to his physical inability to meet. However, Thanh Thuy cleared all rumors when playing in the CEV Cup - European Volleyball Cup C2 (Night 5.11 Vietnam time) in Kuzeyboru's match against Dinamo Zagreb.
Thanh Thuy came off the court at the end of set 3 and the whole set 4. The 27-year-old batter performed quite well in defending, step 1 and attacking. She received 7 passes, scoring 4 points (3 attacking points, 1 blocking point) with a 57% attacking performance.
In particular, Thanh Thuy is the one who brings the decisive score to the Kuzeyboru team (match point) with a powerful vertical blow, high cutting range. With this performance, Thanh Thuy is expected to be trusted by the coaching team and have more opportunities to play in the upcoming matches.
There are still many challenges
Despite scoring the first scores in Turkey, the challenges for Tran Thi Thanh Thuy are still many. Playing in the 2024-2025 CEV Cup, coach Mehmet uses Vietnam's mastery in the opposite volley position instead of the strong position.
Previously, when she was a PFU BlueCats (Japan) in 2023, Thanh Thuy also played in the position of volleyball and assists. However, at that time, the batter from Binh Duong was a rare foreigner of the Japanese team that could play volleyball, so she often had the opportunity to play. In this position, Thanh Thuy achieved high performance, ranking 4th in the tournament with 49.3% and in the top 11 Southeast Asian foreigners scoring the most points.
As for Kuzeyboru, this team owns many quality foreigners. According to the rules of the Turkish national championship, only 3 foreigners are allowed to play in the field and the CEV Cup does not limit the number of foreigners, so the opportunity for Thanh Thuy has also increased. When returning to the domestic arena, Thanh Thuy will still have difficulties to compete for positions.
Coach Mehmet Bedestenlioglu now believes in a squad consisting of masters Margarita Kurilo, Ayse, counter volley Anna Lazareva, assistant Janset Cemre Erkul, Dimitrova, two Gamze... In the master position, two athletes Kurilo and Ayse are showing good form. In addition, this position is also another factor Guldaniz - a veteran batter. Therefore, it is difficult for Thanh Thuy to "step in" to Kuzeyboru's squad at this time.
Physical factors should also be mentioned. After the knee injury, Thanh Thuy's recovery process is prolonged, more or less affecting her physical strength.
