Experts have emphasized many times, besides "professional athlete training programs", school sports are the easiest place to find and discover talents. But Vietnamese sports have not been able to exploit it best, because up to now, in the thinking of many parents, sports are not the priority route.
In other words, with the current picture of Vietnamese sports, proactively choosing a sports career is something shaky, lacking confidence and persuasion. Therefore, to achieve effective school sports, Vietnamese sports not only talk about goals but need to "draw" a road with a destination and a worthy reward.
In many countries with developed sports, students who are good at sports do not have to trade for their educational future. They are awarded scholarships, extra points, and even admission directly to university thanks to their achievements in the sports field. That is how My turned school sports into a "double ticket" for students to study and play sports. And both opened up great opportunities. Japan has built a huge student tournament system, where talent is seen very early and the next step is always clear. Korea even has a separate roadmap for the selected students, with comprehensive sponsorship from schools, society to businesses.
Meanwhile, in Vietnam, considering sports as a "torture" still exists in the minds of many parents to not want their children to follow. That has caused many talents to be hindered from the start. So, school sports are the starting point, needing the combination of many parties to solve the future problem. For example, the policy of direct admission or accumulating points when entering university for students with high achievements. Learning from other countries and applying them to suit your conditions is also a way.
In other words, Vietnam needs to learn how to turn school sports into a benefit ecosystem. When students and parents believe that today's efforts will bring a stable future tomorrow, choosing sports is no longer a forced choice or considering it a " bet for life".
