On the morning of September 18, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Dao Cuong visited and encouraged the Vietnamese sports delegation attending ASIAD 20, and checked the living conditions of the delegation.
In the accommodation area, the Deputy Minister directly learned about the living and resting conditions of athletes, the dining hall and daily service conditions such as food quality, nutrition, medical care and the ability to restore physical strength for athletes.
According to Head of Delegation Nguyen Hong Minh, Vietnamese members currently maintain the training plan, getting acquainted with the conditions in Japan. The main difficulty lies in the fact that the training location is arranged scattered, the travel distance is relatively far, so the teams have to proactively arrange time.
This is a common difficulty that sports delegations all face, not just the Vietnamese Sports Delegation. The host country has prepared and supported very thoughtfully. However, due to the specific nature of dispersed training locations, movement still needs to be proactively arranged by the delegations," Mr. Nguyen Hong Minh reported.
After listening to the report, Deputy Minister Hoang Dao Cuong requested the delegation leaders to continue to coordinate with the organizing committee and the host country to handle arising issues. In the context of dispersed training locations, the organization of transportation and movement needs to be reasonably calculated, ensuring that athletes have enough time to rest and recover after training.
Objective difficulties need to be overcome in the spirit of coordination with the host country, but the most important requirement is to ensure sufficient conditions to serve athletes. Pick-up and drop-off should be reasonably calculated, avoiding affecting the rest and recovery time of athletes.
The Deputy Minister especially noted medical work at the time ASIAD enters competition. Due to the limited number of doctors serving the delegation, the assignment and monitoring need to be carried out appropriately, prioritizing teams that are competing or preparing to enter the peak period.
The Vietnamese sports delegation will participate in ASIAD 20 from September 19 to October 4 with 498 members, including 348 athletes competing in 33 sports/sections.
